FAQ

Which conversions are supported?

The tool accepts JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP and converts them to a different one of those three formats when your browser provides the selected decoder and encoder.

Will conversion change the image dimensions?

No. The converter keeps the browser-decoded width and height. Use Image Resizer when you need different pixel dimensions.

What happens to transparency in JPG output?

JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with the JPEG background colour you select; the default is white. PNG and WebP output can retain transparency.

How does quality work?

The selected 40% to 100% quality value is passed to the browser for JPG and WebP output. PNG output does not use a lossy quality value, and conversion is not guaranteed to reduce file size.

Is my image uploaded?

No. File validation, decoding, conversion, previews and downloads happen locally in your browser without an image-processing API.

Are metadata and animation preserved?

No guarantee is made for metadata such as EXIF fields because canvas conversion can remove it. Animated GIF and animated WebP workflows are outside this static-image converter's supported input contract.

What are the limits?

The converter accepts one image up to 10 MiB, 8,192 pixels per side and 16 megapixels. These limits bound browser memory and processing work.
